I really enjoy Liz Isaacson's books. However, I didn't like this one as much as I usually like her books. Owen and Natalie were high school sweethearts. They had planned to get married a couple months after graduating, then move to Nashville so Owen could pursue a career in country music. However, right after they graduated, Owen left town, without a word to anyone, and went to Nashville on his own. He later explained he did so because he felt trapped. Natalie texted him and emailed him but his replies were vague. Apparently he promised her he would come back for her. He never did. He made it big with his first album and got engaged to someone else. Since things happened, he didn't get married, and he ended up moving back to his hometown. He mended his relationship with his family and got on with his life, but he never even attempted to get in touch with Natalie. Seven years after he moved back, circumstances put he and Natalie together for the first time since he left after high school. The problem I had is that Owen claimed he felt bad about what he had done and had been trying to make things right, but he had been back in town for seven years and never tried to contact Natalie. That just didn't sit well with me. I'm glad things worked out for them, and the writing was great but I just didn't like that one part. It made Owen seem either cowardly or weak.

12 years ago, after graduating, Owen left behind his high school sweetheart, Natalie, to pursue a career in Nashville. He'd promised her that he'd come back for her. She was heartbroken and at first thought he would come back for her. Three years later he still didn't return for her. She then got married because she simply wanted someone to love her ( not a good enough reason to get married). Six months ago, his sister and her husband died and he now has to take care of his niece. Natalie applied for the position of nanny. Owen wants to make amends but he doesn't know how.I absolutely LOVED this book! Marie is very sweet and I loved that she and Nat got along so well. I didn't like that Owen jumped to his own conclusions when Nat did something for him. I wouldn't have been as forgiving as she was. Still, the book was very well written and it was hard to put down. It is the best so far in this series and if you enjoyed the other books in the series, you'll absolutely love this one. Don't think twice about buying it.

Owen and Natalie were high school sweethearts, planning to get married after graduation then move to Nashville. Owen was writing and singing country songs that he hoped would be recorded. For some reason, Owen got cold feet and left town for Nashville without Natalie knowing. Natalie was devastated after she realized that Owen had left her behind. He rarely called and their lives went on separately. When Owen's sister and husband both passed away twelve years later, he was given guardianship of their eight year old daughter, Marie, so he moved back home. How can he care for his niece and work long hours at the horse ranch for troubled boys? Can he put aside his feelings and hire Natalie as Marie's nanny? This is a great story of forgiving yourself and others for past mistakes; trusting God to lead and give us clarity for our future. This is a wonderful series!

Teenage love. Teenage plans. Teenage heartbreak. Grown up pain. Whenever Owen left immediately after high school for Nashville, leaving Natalie behind without a word, their worlds in many ways collapsed. Life went on for both of them yet the hurt and pain of unfulfilled love remained. Years later Owen and Natalie are brought back together as she applies for the job of Nanny to his young niece. What happens next is what love and country songs are all about as they sort through the past and, with God's help, make their way into the future.Once again this amazing author weaves together a novel filled with love, emotions, hope, disappointment, and faith that will have you turning the page with anticipation to see what happens next.

Well, I hate to be a curmudgeon but I don't think this is one of the author's best efforts. It seemed to go in a lot of different directions but never completely addressed any of them. I couldn't tell what either one of the two main characters really felt. The one successful song Owen wrote has him set for life. It must have been a really good song! The author also has a problem with verb tenses which is quite strange since she's written so many books. I still prefer the original series to this.

Owen left right out of high school to go to Nashville to become a singer and left his girlfriend Natalie without a word. He's back now and needs a nanny for his eight year old niece and Natalie applies for the position.. She does everything for him including fixing his dinner in the evenings. The more that time that they spend together, the closer they get. But they need to work out the problems coming from His leaving twelve years ago. But will they make things work out so they can be happy ever after.. Need to read the book to find out. This book was purchased by me and I am giving it a review. It's a good book.

After having an intense relationship together when they were younger, Owen & Natalie find themselves coming face-to-face once again as Owen is looking for a nanny for his eight-year-old niece. Although sparks fly will they become what they once were? Will they just unite to give Marie the childhood she deserves? Grab your copy today guaranteed you won't be disappointed. Many ups and downs ins and outs in this book. Could NOT put it down. Liz outdid herself once again.

As usual, Liz Isaacson had me hooked in the first few pages of "Between the Reins". A common trait in all of Liz's writing. I feel comfortable saying if you see her name, read it!Even though their years following high school took Owen and Natalie in different directions, they were reunited after twelve years through a unique set of circumstances. They discover true love and dreams come true through genuine forgiveness. Uncle Owen was very impressive with his love for and dedication to his niece, Marie. I recommend this book.
