I believe the author is a Sincere man (pun intended) and he writes well. This is a good little options book that explains things so a common investor can understand and apply. Although the CFA exams teaches candidates how to construct payoff diagrams and other equations, I found this book more practical to learning how to profitable trade and invest in options. I couldn't put it down and read the book in a day. This is another great book for folks who are looking to start trading options. I would not use this as my first book though. Options Trading: Quick Start Guide is perfect for a first book to read. This is an excellent book once you get your footing on terms and understanding the easy strategies or calls and puts. This book gives you some more information on knowing how to use the different strategies and why.This book is very easy to read and provides a wealth of information. This is one of a few books that I keep handy to use a reference when doing my own practicing with stock option trading or when reading other books. So far I am still focusing on the easier options trading strategies so I have not done more than a cursory read of the more advanced strategies because it is too soon for me to even worry about those. I have to master the easier strategies before moving on to more difficult trades.
I read Sincere's first edition of this book years ago - and never bothered much with options, Certainly not the more advanced strategies. As I readdressed options recently, it became clear that this new edition was mandatory. Things change in the investment world - especially electronic trades - very rapidly.Sincere's style of writing is clear, concise and very easy to read and follow. Terminology is explained in simple terms - he does a good job of assuring the reader that one will not get boggled in technical terms. As he says ... one doesn't need to understand a combustable engine to drive a car.Sincere develops the chapters very well, progressing from topic to topic in an understandable and fluid manner.As he suggests, one must be familiar with stocks, the market, and trading in general, before reading this book. There are many stock market and investment books available as primers, including one by the same author. Read and know investing before you start this book.Understanding Options is a primer for the beginning option investor, as refresher for the more experienced, and covers very technical and advanced strategies for the seasoned investor.My first edition - being in book form - is highlighted and dog eared. This edition I bought electronic - easy to read and many links are included which make it nicer to move within the volume to various topics. Of course it can still be 'page marked' and sections saved and highlighted for rereads.
Great instructions on a complex subject, including how to start slowly and carefully. It's already made me thousands of dollars in a flat market.I didn't know anything about options, and I was shocked to find out that they can actually reduce the risk in a portfolio, rather than adding to it. It's a very practical, down to earth book that I know I'll be referring back to as my expertise grows. Right now, I'm just selling covered calls.
My son recommended this book for me as a beginning options trader. It is Much easier to understand than another book I got from the library - Understanding Opions for Dummies.
If you are new to option trading, this is THE book for you. The way the data is presented is easy to relate to and he gives examples complete with charts. He has suggestions as well. I've been trading stocks and bonds for decades but I want to get into options and this is the best way to start. When you sign up, your broker sends you a booklet that goes into detail about the risks of options, but leaves very much to be desired. The Sincere book fills in the gaps big time. I highly recommend the book.
I tried a couple of the cheaper Kindle books on options... I actually returned them; they were that bad. *THIS* book, on the other hand, contained usable information, reasonable advice, and detailed explanations of options trading strategies. The author spent more time trying to make options trading make sense, than trying to make it seem like a get-rich-quick scheme.
Great book to get your started on how to invest in options. The book isn't too theoretical and doesn't have a lot of math equations. I am new to options trading and I feel like the book gave me the stock options 101 education. I know I need to delve deeper into options and get into more details and this book shows where I need to learn more. That's exactly what i needed. For a first book to learn options I would give this a 5 star. If you are an experienced or a pro, this book is probably too basic.
