I am new to Critical Care and wanted a book to help with the new IV drugs I would see especially. This book is a great addition to a general drug book. I includes more IV information than a general drug book. A few of the dosage recommendations are different than what my facility uses which is a little confusing. But overall, I use this book most days!

I really like this guide because it gives you the generic name first. then what it's indications for use are and the expected outcomes or theraputic effects. And in a different colored box it gives you the contraindications and cautions. Basically, right on the first page it gives you the most important facts first and then goes on from there.

I use my palm all the time.. I love Epocrates for its ease of use. But for indepth info on drugs we use day and day it..it cannot be beat!!

Good rundown of tons of conspiracy theories, but logic is inconsistently applied and generally too credulous. Also some weird diction like "pressurized" meaning "pressured." What's that all about? A lot of padding dropped instead of more actual researched detail and many of the entries are hardly more than a blurb. Some interesting reading, though, and not a bad starter kit for conspiracies.

Really good book to read and learn about the conspiracies of the world. Very detailed information and well written for you to either believe the conspiracies, or form your own opinion about them.

I like this book as a starting point. I think everyone should read more. You should read books for and against a subject, books in the middle, and books on the periphery that mention the subject.. The author takes about 100 subjects discusses them and then gives them an alert level rating. He also gives you other books to read on the subject. Probably what I didn't like necessarily was his conclusions that led to his alert level rating. However, he brings out points that I didn't know. For instance former president George HW Bush was meeting with Shafi bin Laden, Osama's brother at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on the morning of 9/11.Tidbits, like that, I find interesting and useful to further pursue. Like I said, it's a good starting point for the reader.

Intriguing, curious stories that make you wonder....."What really did happen? Could this be true?"

Great book to gain knowledge from about government secrets and cover ups. Some of them I already knew about and a lot I didn't. Would recommend this book to anyone interested in going down the rabbit hole.

Very cool book. I'm no tin foil hat wearing nut but I like a mystery as much as the next guy and this book is full of great "stories". The big stories have supporting reports from other sources if you need more info on JFK or MLK. Highly recommended.

I learned so much about myself and my wife's style of marital conflict through this book. I listened to it on the way too and from work and there are some helpful exercise that you can discuss with your wife. I moved onto the 7 Principles book after, but I do believe this should be a prerequisite. Without first understanding why you both argue the way you do, especially if you have different styles, you won't be as effective at putting the 7 Principles to work. I also found the 7 Principles to build upon the foundation that this book had already created for me. The reinforcement from the 7 Principles has already became identifiable in my life. I found this book to be a little dated at first, but on an optimistic note, people have had the same problems as everyone else generation after generation. If you're teetering on the edge, buy this book, then the 7 Principles.

Do your marriage a favor and read this book with your spouse. My wife and I read and discussed one chapter a day and it proved to be a great guide for discussion. Not preachy and not filled with religious BS like several others I tried to read. The first chapters are just him fluffing his ego but it does give some credibility to his results and advice. Read this before you read the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, it lays the foundation you will need for the more "soft" discussions the Seven Principles books leads you through. Skip the Gary Chapman love languages book, this book is actually effective and getting the real problems in your marriage out on the table so you can solve them. This book saved my marriage.

John Gottman has studied quirks of marital pairs for decades and has reported his findings on every TV program you can imagine (e.g., Oprah, 20-20, etc.). Great research insights and clear applications. I have my patients read this text because it is readable, although dealing with deeper issues than most, and exercises/applications are readily grasped. cl

I bought Dr. Gottman's book after his visit to Ireland in 1997 and was struck by his quote to the media that "Successful marriages are always those where 'emotionally intelligent' husbands are 'making maps' of their wives' psychological world. Whether it was this advice, or the fact that I married a wonderful Irish lady who is way smarter and far more 'emotionally intelligent' than I am, I don't know, but we are still married after 34 years and looking forward to the next 34 (God willing!).While this book can tend towards the academic at times in the earlier chapters,it comes into its own as a practical guide at around Chapter Seven with its "Four Keys to Improving Your Marriage' and continues to offer invaluable practical advice until the end.I would recommend this book for anyone in a relationship and congratulate Dr. Gottman on his contribution to human understanding.

It's tough for me to rate this book as three stars, because as a student of families and relationships, John Gottman's research on married couples is a huge piece of how we know how to help people in relationships. After getting the "abbreviated version" of his research in undergraduate classes, I was excited to read the whole, in-depth enchilada. Here were my problems with this book:1) too much time is spent bragging to/assuring the reader that the research conducted at Gottman's lab was groundbreaking and amazing. The fact is, the vast majority of the couples Gottman studied were white, well-educated, and had economic advantages. He also exclusively studied heterosexual couples. If your demographics deviate from those of his core research participants, this book may be less helpful for you.2) to an almost laughable degree, women are identified as the "problem starters" in the examples of couples in the book. Escalation in conflict is assumed to be because of physiological (so, basically, unchangeable) attributes of the man and behavioral (controllable) choices of the woman. We know now that the gendered behavior described in this book is far more learned and socialized than genetic and innate, and I believe that future editions of this book should be updated to reflect this evolving knowledge.With that being said, if you are like the individuals in the couples Gottman studied- predominantly white, well-educated, and financially a-ok- you may find that much of this book rings true, and that you can identify yourself and your marriage amongst the marriage types, "4 horsemen of the apocalypse", and gendered behavior. His advice about how to categorize and navigate conflict is helpful in any conflict, not just marital conflict.

Great book on marriage. Has insights I have not seen anyplace else. My only frustration with this book is that it covers three styles of marriages / marriage preferences.VolatileValidatingAvoidantIt mentions that a husband with a validating style and a woman with a avoidant style can lead to a stable but very unhappy marriage. But then it is VERY VAGUE on specific suggestions for this marriage type. In fact, in chapter 6, it does not even aknowledge that this paring can take place when it offered specific suggestions for other parings.So you are left to try to muddle through on your own and figure out the best approach.

No one picking up such a book is probably in a good space within their relationship but in doing so they, like me, have hope. Clearly written, with well thought out dialogue and interactive profiling to assist and identify strengths and weaknesses within your own relationships. Great tool for couples seeking to remain together, and seeking the best in one another.

I recently moved to Northern California and I wanted some guide books to help me explore my new area. I usually love Lonely Planet guide books so I figured I'd get both the California guide book (for when I have a long weekend and can go south) and the Northern California guide book so that I could get a lot more detail for the stuff that is close by and more easy to explore. Both of the books arrived, and I was really excited to start planning trips, but then I started comparing the two books. Low and behold they are the EXACT SAME THING... word for word, chapter for chapter. (The only thing that is changed between the books is the center piece with all the pictures.) The California guide book simply has 5 more chapters that include Southern California. The No.Cal. book is $2.75 cheaper, but I'd say just pay the extra $ to get the 5 more chapters in case you ever want to go to the south as well. The info looks good, I just wish that there were more detail for No. Cal. in the No. Cal. book

I eagerly awaited this new book, but it seems like it was barely updated from the previous version I borrowed from the library. For example, there is no mention of the new SMART train that opened last year that makes it easier to visit some small towns just north of San Francisco.In general, this book is very poor if you're relying on public transit. In Los Angeles, the light rail extension to Santa Monica Pier has been open for two years, but it instead suggests to take a slower bus. Buses between Los Angeles and San Francisco are faster than the train, but it only suggests the Greyhound bus, which leaves from a bus station in the sketchy outskirts of L.A. Megabus and Boltbus have been operating for years and offer a direct ride from L.A.'s Union Station in the city center or Hollywood to downtown San Francisco.I would suggest one uses this book as a starting point for research, then supplement your trip details with more online research.

I purchased this travel guide in the Kindle edition and am glad I did. This book is still the same thorough, insightful guide that I've come to expect from Lonely Planet, but with a whole new dimension. There are links to most of the attractions, businesses and info. sources cited in the book and as long as my Kindle Fire is connected to the web, all I have to do is click to go directly to their web sites for more details and up-to-date information.Additionally, I can expand all the maps included in the guide to zoom in on neighborhoods and streets. The colors are vivid on the Kindle display, which enhances the reading experience for me. I bought this book to help me plan a trip to this region. It is definitely going with me.

I have found that Lonely Planet's travel books vary from one book to another. Several years ago I got one on Arizona. It was 5-stars plus. Excellent. The best. The one on Ireland was so-so. This one was so-so as well. Not much "inside" information. What I got from this book I could have gotten from any other travel book. In fact, I need to get another book because this one fell short. Sorry Lonely Planet, but it did. I counted on you for information I could not get anywhere else and you didn't deliver.

This is a detailed, user-friendly guide that puts a great deal of information at the traveler's fingertips. It breaks the Northern California coast into sections or areas and each section is broken down into towns, things to do, etc. It also gives distances and driving times between different cities and towns. The weblinks are also fun and handy and the travel tips are great. Thanks, Lonely Planet, and thanks, Amazon!

Although it's going a bit upstream in recent years, LP guides are still the best out there and North Cali just did what we needed it to. Maybe adding a chapter on Silicon Valley would be nice and dropping city of Napa (that's just not what I call a invigorated lively and interesting town, sorry :D)

To much writing. No photos o references. I deeply recommend a different book or travel guide.

Used it recently and found it helpful. I had good success with most of the recommendations and appreciated the honesty of the reviews.

Question for parents--does this book romanticize being a soldier in your son's eyes? This is my concern. Much to our consternation, my 9-yr-old grandson brought this home from his school library. I read part of it, & it seems pretty balanced; it mentions soldiers that die. Still, it makes soldiering look exciting. What effect did it have on your child? After reading it, is he/she more gung-ho to enlist when reaching 18?.

not a fan, the images is nice but to color it ughh!! if you are a color pencil person your point will need to be on point, the detail is so small and this book could have benefited by using the full page and expanding the picture

I didn’t like that there was a person in almost all the pictures. It was a spring gardening book that means to me tulips daffodils pansies etc I don’t want to color someone doing gardening chores disappointing

Wow this book has all I love! There are kitties, bunnies and dogs. Not to mention all the gorgeous spring flowers we wait patiently all winter for. This book is definately a winner!

Great coloring book if you like very detailed and intricate designs, so I wouldn't recommend for beginners or children. However, for those who do like more difficult designs, these are very nice.

This is a book, while the pictures themselves are of a nice spring variety (flowers, gardens, pets, etc.), they drawings are fairly intricate and would be too difficult for most children or beginner colorists.

Perfect themed pictures for Spring. I would consider this book more for the intermediate colorist, because the majority of the pages have Lora of small detail to color. If you need larger spaces to color his is not for you. I received a. PDF copy of the book for review, therefore I can not comment on the quality of paper or if it's printed on both sides. I am not feeling this book. Love Spring and the outdoors. However, not a fan of gardening so much. A lot of line work is quite intricate as well. I don't use pencils too often and that is necessary here. Its a nice book if you like the details as well as the subject.

This book helped me gain more insights into my thinking and has very helpful tips on how to change the way I think about things so I feel better about myself and be happier and more satisfied with my life. A good thing I noticed when reading this also is that I am already doing a couple of the things Damon suggests and they do work and it helped to know I am going in the right direction.

I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out how to write my first ever review for any book in the most perfect way. It’s a mental struggle even to write a simple review without thinking too much:) Perfectionism is an addiction that I let myself succumb to. Of all things in life that can suck one’s happiness I think ‘perfectionism’ is the most stealthy one. There are so many things out there to blame for unhappiness and even when you blame yourself for it imagine how difficult it is to accept that you have fallen to your own self beliefs.This is a great book for someone who is struggling in life because of perfectionism. Even for others there are useful things to know. It doesn’t take a lot time to go through the book and this short amount of time would definitely be a time well spent for everyone.This book doesn’t cover a lot of theory or about psychological triggers for perfectionism. However there are references to relevant articles and studies. This is a very short book even so it took a very short time to connect with myself. I think this would be the case with you especially if you are a perfectionist. I could immediately connect to the personal experiences shared by Damon since that’s exactly how perfectionism affects me and also for the reason that my perfectionism doesn’t allow me to be challenged by others easily. I find it very important to learn lessons from someone who has walked the same path in which I am travelling now.I could easily acknowledge the “12 negative impacts of perfectionism” described in part one of this book. It was like someone describing my current experiences in life. Part two of the book helps to evaluate the severity of perfectionism in one’s life. I scored full marks on the pop quiz at the end of the chapter. Let me know if you beat me on that ;)The third and final part of the book is all about action where Damon lists 12 ideas to overcome perfectionism. Again these ideas are covered in very few pages and is to the point. You could clearly see that the focus is on getting someone to start executing them without spend too much time on reading a lot more.I have been following some of the ideas in the last few weeks and have seen a great impact already. Just reading the book has reduced my level of self-criticism. By following few of the ideas I have been able to avoid triggers that let my ‘perfectionist inner critic’ to take control of me. I also have been able to realize when I am under the influence of perfectionist thoughts and pull myself back on track. The same situation few months back would have carried me onto a runaway train. I am slowly working on following the other ideas too and would recommend everyone to give them a try. I know it’s a tough road ahead for us but I am sure Damon has more books in line to revitalize us down the road. Good luck everyone!Thanks Damon for this book. I have gotten a taste of the joy of imperfection and it is a soothing experience.

Very comprehensive content! The book is written straight to the point and practical exercises / solutions are included. I strongly recommend this book, whether you may need a guide for self improvement or just look for a reference for human studies.

In my opinion, this is one of the best books on perfectionism that I have read. Easy read with concrete examples and exercises that you can practice to work through to slowly rid yourself of a perfectionistic mindset. I believe that it is worth reading multiple times.

This book was extremely helpful to me. It helped me to see my perfectionism for what it is...a hinderance to accomplishing more, as well as a hinderance to experiencing freedom and joy in life.

This is the third book by this author I’ve read, and so far all resonate well with practical examples and tips...10/10.

I have learned that I am not a perfectionist as defined by this author, not at all. I always thought I was, but maybe I am "just" OCD. I feel so badly for anyone who meets this author's definition as life sure would be hell and an endless nightmare. Admitting that I am not a perfectionist, that ends up really not qualifying me to leave feedback on the suggested interventions, but I will anyway from my non perfectionist position. If one were a perfectionist, I would think it would take a tremendous amount of effort and time for the suggested interventions to work, and likely not even then. The mindset would be deep and a few techniques and exercises wouldn't cut it. Interestingly, there are numerous grammatical errors and I can't help but wonder if they were done on purpose to make a point.

Doesnt offer much in terms of guidance. Just call it a book fr the wicked.
