The topic of this book covers a complex computer virus that essentially destroys the banking system. Mark really brings it to life with a realistic scenario based on things that have already made the news.My favorite things about all Mark Goodwin books:Bible Verses preface every chapter.Clean for kids.No foul language.Realism.And most of all, they cover how to become saved and lead others to Salvation - regardless of the Apocalypse.This would be a great book to share with others on the fence about preparing. It's not an EMP/Pandemic/Nuke War/et al scenario where living becomes hopeless.I'm really looking forward to how this series develops and I hope the author will make it a 4-book series instead of a 3.Impatiently waiting on the sequel....
Well Mark does it again.Wasn't inspired when I started listening but boy did that change fast. It was funny how I was sucked in to the point of super anticipation for what comes next. One thing I am quite partial to is how the truth of the Lord Jesus is always revealed in Marks writing.As far as audio, I do prefer Kevin Pierce's narration. Don't get me wrong Stacey Glemboski is excellent.
Starts off with a bang, then slows down a bit as the back story is built. Good story and character development. The action picks up about halfway through the book and ends in a place where you know there is more to come.Good writing and you learn a bit along the way. Easy to want to keep reading to see how things turn out. I got the audible version as well and read along or just listened and finished the book in three days alternating between reading and listening. Alexa makes it easy to listen and picks up where you paused automatically.Recommended read. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Have read every series from this author and have not been disappointed yet.
If you are a fan of Mark Goodwin and his prepper novels you will really enjoy his newest book, Cyber Armageddon. This is Book One in a new series titled Rise Of The Locusts. The first chapter pulls you into the story because it sounds like the things that we read everyday on the internet. The characters are your family and neighbors and the choices that you might have to make some day. As you move through the story you cry, you share their battles and the choices that they make and wonder if you would make the same ones. Please read the book and take it to heart - are you going to be one of the prepared or one of the low life?
If you have read any of Mark Goodwin's previous books, then you will recognize his style. This is a fast pace techno thriller with a Biblical center and massage. This is a serious scenario based on a nasty computer virus crashing all of our banking and other systems creating mass chaos, of course! It has an interesting yet flawed female lead character who is transposed into a great hero. If you have someone in your group that is negative to prepping based on the thought that GOD will save us from an end of the world effort by nefarious actors then I encourage you to buy this book for them. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Finished in one sitting. I thought to take it slow because I don’t know when book 2 will be published. Obviously that plan was a huge fail.I appreciate the build in the first few chapters. The more I read/listen to these books my understanding of the fragile nature of our economy & potential cyber risks increases. It definitely makes me do an assessment of how prepared my household is in the event of a collapse.Thank you Mark G. another very, very good read!
Not well written and far too preachy. It has potential, but plot soo degenerates into one mistake after another. A few high points, and a lot of low ones. Not to my taste.
I really like Mark Goodwin's books, and Rise of the Locusts was no exception. The scenario of a computer virus taking down critical infrastructure is one that could happen on any day of the week. Every day there are headlines about computers going offline affecting airlines, stealing passwords or phishing emails to infect your computer with software that can steal your information or use your computer to spread the viruses around the world. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
